Boeing Successfully Demonstrates Joint Tactical Radio System Ground Mobile Radios

(ST. LOUIS, Aug. 28, 2006) -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] successfully displayed the capabilities of the Joint Tactical Radio System Ground Mobile Radios (JTRS GMR) during a recent demonstration to senior U.S. government officials.

The demonstration showed that a critical element of the JTRS GMR program, the Wideband Networking Waveform, is compatible with common Internet-like multimedia services and can enable soldiers to communicate using these services in a tactical environment with dynamic network connectivity. Boeing simultaneously integrated 10 commercial off-the-shelf Internet Protocol (IP) applications, including four streaming/live video signals, Windows NetMeeting, Speak Freely Voice over IP, Windows NetMeeting Whiteboard, Windows NetMeeting File Transfer Protocol, JPEG viewer and Windows NetMeeting Chat.

Operating on the same GMR simultaneously, Boeing showed that the GMR Single Channel Ground -- Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) waveform supports interoperability by communicating with multiple current force radios.
