'Saudi Arabia appears to have ruled out major aircraft purchases over the next few years.

Saudi officials said the kingdom's military has recommended that numerous air- and ground-based platforms undergo an upgrade over the next five years. They said the military's General Staff has determined that Saudi Arabia's U.S.-origin fighter-jets and ground-based systems -- if modernized - could remain operational for at least another decade.
