IAE International Aero Engines announced today (November 21) that Royal Jordanian Airlines had selected V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft for the first stage of its fleet renewal program.
This fleet renewal includes an initial four A320s and two A321s on lease from major international lessors with deliveries taking place between November 2005 and November 2006. The aircraft will go into operation with the Royal Jordanian main-line carrier.
IAE Senior Vice President Customer Business Bob Keady said: “We are very proud and delighted that Royal Jordanian Airlines is introducing its first V2500-powered aircraft at such an important time as the start of its fleet renewal program and look forward to establishing a long-term partnership with the airline.

Royal Jordanian Airlines Chief Executive Officer Samer Majali said: “The low overall cost of ownership and the class-leading fuel burn – especially in the current environment - means that IAE’s V2500 engines will play an important role in our current renewal plans.”
Royal Jordanian Airlines currently operates seven Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500-A5 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.
IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.
More than 1,300 V2500-powered aircraft have been delivered and the worldwide fleet has accumulated over 33 million flying hours.
