ROSOBORONEXPORT to deliver two IL-76MF transport aircraft to JORDAN

On 17 th August 2005, an official meeting between the Director General of the Rosoboronexport State Corporation Sergei V. Chemezov and His Majesty King of Jordan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Jordanian Armed Forces Abdullah bin Al Housein II, as well as Joint Chiefs of Staff Director Assistant Prince Feisal bin Al Housein was held at the MAKS 2005 International Aviation and Space Salon. During the talks a contract on delivery of two IL-76MF military transport aircraft was signed. Under the contract both aircraft will be equipped with the Russian-made PS-90A-76 aeroengines. This is the first ever contract on acquisition of the military transport aircraft of such type.

The IL-76MF military transport aircraft is a derivative of the well-known IL-76 medium-range transport aircraft. The aircraft is powered by new turbofan engines with the low specific fuel consumption and increased thrust ratio of 16,000 kgf. The engines completely meet ICAO noise and emission requirements. The aircraft's cruising air speed is about 780 km/h, with a service range of up to 5,200 km. Thanks to the increased cargo hold dimensions the aircraft is capable of transporting a greater variety of air cargoes.
